Pumpkin Challenge Rules and Such

  1. Pumpkin creations may include, drinks, desserts, savory dishes, breads, muffins, ice creams, pasta dishes, pancakes, etc. There's no limit.    

  2. The entry fee will be free per creation entered. One creation per participant. Clever names are encouraged.  As are costumes, for the bold.  

  3. All ingredients must be pre-cooked and prepared prior to the event. 

  4. Store bought creations are not allowed.

  5. All baking/cooking is to be done in a sanitary manner.  Suspicion of failure to comply will lead to disqualification.

  6. You may have a crowd of 100+ event guests so plan accordingly for amount of creation to be brought.

  7. Event will be held in parking lot weather permitting.  10x10 pop up canopy or smaller is encouraged.  You'll need tables and a chairs.   Decorating your booth is encouraged. 

  8. Each creation entered will be assigned a number by Gina and written on a placard with the creation name.

  9. Judges will vote for the creation they like best based on the following major considerations: (a) Presentation and Color: The creation should look appetizing; (b) Aroma: The creation should smell good (this also indicates what is in store when tasted); (c) Consistency: It should not be dry, watery, grainy, lumpy, or greasy; (d) Taste: Taste, above all else is the most important factor; (e) Originality: very original, unique creation.

  10. The Best Pumpkin Challenge Award will be determined by the Judging Committee.  The People's Choice Award is determined by the event guests.   The event guests will be entitled to taste each participant's creation.  It is up to each participant to entice the event guests to try their creation and cast their vote.  First Prize: $25.00 cash along with acknowledgement on Instagram and Facebook and announcement at the event, awards, other public accolades and bragging rights.  People's Choice Award: $20.00 in store/online gift certificate, a People's Choice Certificate, public announcement at the event, other public accolades and bragging rights. 

  11. Each participant's creation will be distributed to the event guests by the participant. Plan accordingly to have serving utensils. Distribution will happen only after a participant has submitted their creation to the judges.  Strawberry Store will provide bowls/plates/cups, spoons/forks and napkins for event guests.

  12. All contestants must provide their own heating apparatus, such as a hot plate, crockpot, camping stove or canned fuel (e.g., Sterno). Strawberry Store will provide extension cords.

  13. The competition is open to men and women of any age. Strawberry Store reserves the right to refuse participation in the competition to any individual at the discretion of the store owners. All individuals must provide a valid email address when registering for the competition.  Communication to the registered email address shall constitute notice delivered regarding competition matters.
